“What is Supported Decision-Making?”
Supported decision-making, or SDM, is what we all do everyday. We choose trusted doctors, mechanics, attorneys or mentors to assist us in making choices using plain language. For this, we are seen as wise. Unfortunately, this is not true for people with disabilities who are often held to the “Dr. Spock Standard” when they ask for help. In fact, people with disabilities most often funnel through an automated pipeline from their school or regional center to conservatorship. Parents and service providers overwhelmingly learn about the most restrictive and, seemingly, the “only” option to support a person with a disability. One option by definition is not a choice. Everyone – including people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those who use augmentative and alternative communication – can practice self-determination and SDM by making choices with the help of trusted supporters, family, friends and professionals chosen by the individual. –Suzanne Bennett Francisco, Guest Speaker

This service will be in-person and streamed online.

St. Francis Day Animal Blessing
Each year we invite our animal friends to join us at the sanctuary for the Feast Day of St. Francis. This year we’ll meet outdoors so that we can safely include children, learn a bit about the teachings of St. Francis, and bless our critter companions. Bring along your well-behaved dog on leash, cat in harness or crate, bird, fish, llama, or stuffies to receive a blessing of gratitude for all the beauty and unconditional love they show us! –Rev. Fa Jun, Minister

This service will be in-person and streamed online.

Stronger Together

To make our world better, each of us must celebrate and share our unique gifts to nurture our planet. As curious, spiritually independent people, our Fellowship strives to provide an open and supportive environment to explore the creativity, strength, and wisdom within the diverse experiences and aspirations of each of us. We find joy and meaning in such a community. And by working together, we strengthen our connections.
We are a Welcoming Congregation, intentionally and openly taking steps to welcome into our community people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
